The Mint was established on 10 December 1990 by Resolution of the Lithuanian Government. It revived the traditions of minting the Lithuanian coins that flourished during the Middle Ages, continued during the pre-war period but were stopped in 1940.

Welcome to the Bureau of Engraving and Printing’s (BEP) website. We are the largest producer of security documents in the United States. The BEP prints billions of Federal Reserve Notes for delivery to the Federal Reserve System each year (the BEP does not produce coins – all coinage is minted by the United States Mint). These notes are produced at our facilities in Washington, DC, and Fort Worth, Texas. In addition to U.S. currency, the BEP produces several other security documents such as portions of U.S. passports, materials for Homeland Security, military identification cards, and Immigration and Naturalization Certificates.

His Royal Highness, The Duke of Edinburgh, officially opened the Royal Australian Mint, Canberra, on Monday 22nd February 1965. The Mint was commissioned to produce Australia’s decimal coinage, which was to be introduced into circulation on 14th February 1966. The Royal Australian Mint holds a place in history as the first mint in Australia not to be a branch of the Royal Mint, London.
 

The Royal Mint continues as a department of government but although its primary responsibility remains the provision of the United Kingdom coinage, its reputation for producing the world's finest coins means that more than 100 countries have entrusted the striking of their coinage to the Royal Mint.
The history of the British Royal Mint itself can be traced back more than a thousand years there being an unbroken link from the scattered workshops of the moneyers of Anglo-Saxon London to a single mint within the Tower of London to purpose-built premises at Tower Hill and finally to the huge modern coining plant in South Wales.
